DELL ADAMO XPS SMART DESIGN

Dell has bettered its wafer-thin Adamo laptop launched in March with the announcement of the 0.4-inch (9.99mm) thin Adamo XPS. Apart from the attention that the label of World's thinnest laptop brings, the XPS has some very appealing design qualities that are nothing to do with its slender profile or 3.2 pound weight. Rather than the conventional hinge, the full-size keyboard folds into the display in such a way that it's raised at the top when it's opened to provide enhanced cooling and...

ITS TIME TO BUY A LAPTOP

Windows 7's launch is going to be a hell of a busy time for laptops. Expect a slew of higher end Intel Core i7 mobile rigs and thin notebooks powered by new dual core ULV processors when the OS ships. Intel's next generation Centrino platform, codenamed Calpella, will be launched at the end of September, says MSI. That means speedy new notebooks with Nehelam based mobile CPUs and chipsets will be arriving just in time to put Windows 7 on the hard drive. MSI will ship 15.4 and 17-inch...

ASUS EEETOP PC READY FOR A TOUCH OF WINDOWS 7

We've been anticipating these ION-infused EeeTops since CeBIT and, after a few leaks along the way, ASUS has finally made things official. The 20-inch ET2002 and ET2002T (guess which one comes with the touchscreen) get an Atom 330 riding that ION chipset with integrated graphics, 2GB of DDR2, 320GB storage, WiFi, a DVD rewriter and stereo speakers. The 22-inch ET2203T matches the connectivity options, but doubles the memory, adds Blu-ray and larger HDD options, ATI Radeon HD4570 graphics, and...

NOKIA INTRODUCES BOOKLET 3G

Nokia rocked the world this morning by introducing its spin on the laptop, called the Booklet 3G. If you're the rude sort (like us) you could call it a fancy netbook, what with its Atom processor and 10.1-inch display, but that screen is higher res than your average Eee, and it also sports integrated 3G wireless and a hot-swappable SIM card, so it's definitely trying to define its own niche. It looks to be running Windows 7, which isn't particularly netbooky, and also has integrated A-GPS...
