IPHONE TO LAUNCH IN CHINA

The Apple iPhone will finally make its way to China from October 15th onwards, where the 8GB and 16GB models will ship for $293 and $439 thereabouts, respectively. Of course, that would also mean being tethered to a 2-year contract with China Unicom with a plan from as low as $27 monthly. Do you think the iPhone will make it big in that part of the world? After all, it can hope on its 690 million strong cellphone user base, although how many of those are able to afford an iPhone is another...

GOOGLE VOICE FOR IPHONE ‘REJECTED’

The Google Voice application for iPhone has been rejected by Apple, says Google. The reason invoked by Apple is that Google Voice duplicates the dialer function included in the iPhone and replaced a “native function”, which is grounds for a rejection. The rejection would have occurred in July during a phone conversation with top executives (Apple's Phil Schiller and Google's Alan Eustace) from both companies. Apple has previously said that Google Voice was technically still being reviewed,...

VUZIX WRAP 310 VIDEO SUNGLASSES

Vuzix is continuing to try and fine tune their video glasses into something we would actually be interested in buying. This time around, the emphasis seems to be on creating a more natural look. Along those lines, Vuzix notes that the Wrap 310 is also...

Noticing a "Policy Requirement" error when trying to use your Microsoft Exchange account after upgrading to OS 3.1? Then there's a good chance you're not using an iPhone 3GS, as Apple has just confirmed via a support page that the upgrade can now enforce the Exchange ActiveSync mailbox policy requiring encryption on the device, which just so happens to only be supported by the 3GS (guess that "S" stands for more than just speed). Not surprisingly, the only solution for non-3GS users is to...

NOKIA PUTTING FOOT DOWN ON MAEMO

Google and Apple have both managed to wrest a great deal of control over the mobile user experience from carriers over the past couple of years cheers to that, by the way and now Nokia's decided it wants a piece of that action with the introduction of Maemo 5 and the N900, which it says will be free of the branding that Symbian products frequently get subjected to. It makes total sense that Nokia would be looking to come play in that rarified air that Android, iPhone OS, and webOS are all...
