iPhone to Launch in China

The Apple iPhone will finally make its way to China from October 15th onwards, where the 8GB and 16GB models will ship for $293 and $439 thereabouts, respectively. Of course, that would also mean being tethered to a 2-year contract with China Unicom with a plan from as low as $27 monthly. Do you think the iPhone will make it big in that part of the world? After all, it can hope on its 690 million strong cellphone user base, although how many of those are able to afford an iPhone is another...

Google Voice for iPhone ‘rejected’

The Google Voice application for iPhone has been rejected by Apple, says Google. The reason invoked by Apple is that Google Voice duplicates the dialer function included in the iPhone and replaced a “native function”, which is grounds for a rejection. The rejection would have occurred in July during a phone conversation with top executives (Apple's Phil Schiller and Google's Alan Eustace) from both companies. Apple has previously said that Google Voice was technically still being reviewed,...

Rumors New iMac and MacBook

Word is going around that Apple plans to roll out new iMacs and MacBooks in the coming weeks in order to spruce up its lineup before the frenzied holiday season rolls around, although with the current economic climate we could be looking at less-than-stellar sales as people continue to remain cautious with their spending. Well, the fine folks over at the iPhone Blog have done a bit of information collecting on just that topic to see if Apple's latest is actually that much faster. Both Macworld and TUAW did testing which showed a reduction in boot times from 31 to 19 seconds, web page loading (using the New York Times) went from 34 to 15 seconds, while app launching saw time reductions across the...

Apple Tablet with 9.6-inch Touchscreen

I know, another tablet rumor right? But stay with me on this one. Taiwan Economic News' "industry sources" say it's real, and will have a 9.6-inch touchscreen, HSPDA, a P.A SEMI processor, "long lasting battery" and cost $800 to $1000... The new report gets more specific than previous rumors by breaking down which Taiwanese component manufacturers will handle production. They include current iPhone screen-maker, Wintek (display), and Dynapack (said to be gearing up to produce more than 300,000...
