The smartphone which has been spoken insistently in recent weeks as the Sony Ericsson Nozomi, was presented yesterday in an official as Sony Xperia S. The first smartphones only Sony-branded Xperia is clearly a high-end product, with a data sheet that includes a 4.3-inch touch screen in HD format (720 x 1280 dots), MSM8260 processor at 1.5 GHz Dual Core architecture, 1GB RAM and, depending on the version, 16 or 32GB of memory (not expandable).
Xperia S represents a new approach to design called ‘Iconic Identity’. The design will be replicated throughout the series Xperia NXT and is characterized by a very simple look of immediate recognition. The transparent line at the base of smartphones creates an unmistakable silhouette that highlights in a particular display. The glazing also generates light effects and integrates the antenna. The user interface has been redesigned to align with the minimalist design of the ‘hardware. The screen has a colorful background that the new, floating, exploits the potential offered by Reality HD display.
The Sony Xperia S also features a 12 megapixel camera with Sony Exmor R sensor optical, flash and video recording in HD mode and 1.3-megapixel front camera for video calls. Xperia S integrates the NFC (Near Field Communication) to allow users to exchange content and to enjoy a growing number of NFC applications and services. The Sony Xperia S will be launched in early spring with Android 2.3, but will be updated to Android 4.0 during the second quarter.
