HP Envy 13

hp_envyIt’s been months since we’ve heard a peep from Voodoo or its swaggering founder, Rahul Sood. Now it seems that one of the changes headed to the Voodoo brand is no branding at all judging by the pics of this purported Envy 13 from parent company HP it steals both the name and size-indicative numbering from the Voodoo Envy 133 without a hint to its heritage.

The 13.1-inch laptop is said to run Windows 7 on an Intel chipset. Visually we can see a pair of USB jacks, HDMI, and trackpad that looks to be packing some special sauce. A peak at Sood’s Twitter account calls Tuesday “D Day” with the promise of “new product coming out in September/October (ish),” that will make you, “the envy of all your friends.” In other words, we expect to learn more tomorrow. Backside pic after the break, more over at notebook italia.

LG officially announces GW620

lg-gw620Though it already broke cover at IFA out in Germany a few days ago, LG’s just sealed the deal on its very first Android phone the GW620 landscape QWERTY slider. Interestingly, the “Etna” name seen at IFA is missing from the official press release, but otherwise, the 3-inch touchscreen mentioned lines up nicely with what we’d previously known.

Camera specs aren’t mentioned here, but as far as we know, it’s going to clock in at 5 megapixels and the phone looks to be loaded with a very bone-stock Android build sans LG-specific enhancements like an S-Class port.

Interestingly, the GW620 flies in the face of LG’s super-cozy relationship with Microsoft and its commitment to concentrate on WinMo in its smartphone line, but you can tell that the company’s wording in the release is very carefully-chosen: the phone is geared at “making the smartphone experience more accessible for typical users” and “young professionals who demand a full QWERTY keypad,” which we guess makes WinMo a more business-savvy platform in LG’s eyes. We think we’re comfortable with that characterization — for now, anyway. Look for the GW620 to start showing up in “select European markets” in the fourth quarter of the year.

AT&T Halts Nokia Mural

nokia-muralIt looks like the folks who picked up the entry-level Nokia Mural from AT&T might have been a little shortchanged. Apparently the device only runs on AT&T’s 2G network, instead of the 3G network as promised.

From an AT&T memo leak, the company is blaming it on Nokia’s factories. The faulty devices will have to be sent back to Nokia to be re-flashed. AT&T will have to send the devices back to Nokia by Sept 25th. A spokesperson for AT&T has said that folks who don’t want a replacement can get an alternative. Sounds a little sloppy of Nokia to be honest, but accidents do happen.

Latte Espresso Media Player

latte_espresso_media_playerDon’t want to follow the iPod Touch crowd? Well, it seems like the 16GB Latte Espresso media player could certainly give the iPod Touch a run for its money, not only that, it might even have the upper hand, considering that it sports a haptic touchscreen.

Of course, it doesn’t have an AppStore like Apple, but considering that it’s retailing for just under $100 ($99.99 to be precise), you’d probably want to at least check it out first, if you’re looking for a new portable media player (PMP).
