If the chips are Intel’s Medfield ready to get some Android devices in the world surely will not miss the challenge with arch rivals in the industry, that Qualcomm Snapdragon and Nvidia Tegra. The challenge today is about the new Intel quad-core SoC and the Nvidia Tegra 3, we find that within months from the end of the new ASUS Eee Pad Transformer Prime. Thanks to some benchmarks actually see if the results will be obtained from Medfield to the levels of other processors, or if, as stated by the same Intel, with their technology will be able to beat the competition.
The tests were performed using the CaffeineMark Benchmark, which measures performance through Java code. And the results are as follows:
Apparently, according to allegations made by Intel, it seems that the Medfield, single-core processor working at 1.6 GHz, has achieved a rating of about 10,500 points. With the same test chip as Nvidia Tegra 3 have reached 10,399 points, a sign that the benchmark single-threaded, and not considering the performance offered by more than one core, the SoC Ndivia definitely should offer better performance in applications that take advantage of multiple cores .
The main problem with the Intel chip is always high energy consumption, and the first voices seems to be the best in this respect than the current generation of mobile devices.
Of course I should mention that the benchmark does not reflect the true performance of the chip or device, as many times do not take into account some important details that may change the results. That said it seems that, as promised by Intel, the Medfiled can really compete with high-level chip from Nvidia, Samsung, Qualcomm and Texas Instruments.
Hopefully soon, maybe at CES 2012, some big producer, in collaboration with Intel, present a first Android device with this new chip. We are all curious to know what you’ll find Intel’s Medfield.
