CEATEC, its Smartbook Combo

Sharp has cleverly walked into the as-yet-unnoticed space between two electronic giants - the smartphone and the netbook - by introducing NetWalker PC-Z1, a mini netbook with a 5-inch WSVGA touchscreen interface, developed for the Japanese market. The NetWalker showed up at CEATEC Japan and promises to cater to those ambiguous minds which are eternally undecided between using a chic touchscreen or sticking to the old-fashioned convenience of a tactile keyboard. The device comes bundled with...

BFG’s 18.4-inch Deimos X-10

Here is a gaming laptop packs twin GPUs, from $1,859. BFG Technologies, which could admittedly move laptops based on company name alone, has decided to actually toss in some unnecessary legwork with its latest beast. The 18.4-inch Deimos X-10 (likely a rebranded Clevo M980NU) is undoubtedly one of the larger desktop replacements on the market today, boasting Intel Core 2 Duo, Quad and Extreme CPU options, twin 1GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 280M GPUs, a 1,920 x 1,080 resolution display, three HDD bays...

Lenovo intros SL410 and SL510 ThinkPads

ThinkPad’s

Boing Boing Cory relates this tale using his $100/year global support service for his Lenovo laptop and actually liking what eventually happened. Wha?? The Benjamin-a-year plan entitles the user to a service rep to come out next-day, no matter where on the planet you are provided it's somewhere reasonable, we'd assume. The tech guy came by his office and fixed exactly what was wrong, basically doing an in-house call that Apple stores, even with their notoriously decent service, couldn't match....

Sony Vaio X Series

Sony has just made official their Vaio X Series of notebooks, and hopefully the self-proclaimed "world's lightest notebook" will be able to live up to its billing. We do know that specifications-wise, this is pretty decent, boasting an 11.1" LED backlight display alongside a battery life of up to 14 hours under selected operating conditions. The touchpad will also boast multi-touch functionality just in case you're suffering a case of iPhone withdrawal at the office. Each X Series notebook...
