PANASONIC LUMIX GH1

After seeing what has been chosen as the best compact SLR better this year, we can not forget a third category of cameras opened not long ago. We talk about the best Micro Four Thirds camera 2009, a format developed by Panasonic and Olympus to reduce the size of conventional SLR, keeping most of its functionality. It was Panasonic which has brought the cat into the water with the Panasonic Lumix GH1. If participation in the compact and the SLR has been quite remarkable, the number of votes...

LEICA X1 REVIEW

The Leica X1 is a lovely little camera and, as we've seen, it can take some stunning shots. Now it's been given a full examination in a review big enough to match the thing's decidedly over-sized asking price of $2,000. Over 28 pages dpreview attempts to verify that this machine has the performance to match that MSRP, and the news is not particularly good. The Leica does well enough, particularly when it comes to delivering high-quality images even at high ISO settings a major stumbling block...

SAMSUNG TL225 / ST550 REVIEW ROUNDUP

Incredulously enough, no other major camera maker has come out and mimicked Samsung's front-facing LCD approach found on the TL225 (or ST550 in some areas), so if you're in the market, it's either this one or the lesser-specced TL220 (ST500). If you're considering picking up the former as a bang-up gift for your special someone, you'd probably do yourself a solid by taking a peek at a few reviews around the web. The long and short of it is this: the camera's dual LCDs are well implemented, and...

HASSELBLAD H4D-60 HIGH-END DSLR

High-end camera manufacturer Hasselblad has added to its H System of cameras with the H4D-60. The "60" refers to the unit's huge 60 megapixel medium format sensor which is combined with True Focus with APL (Absolute Position Lock), a system designed to make auto-focus substantially easier and more accurate. Aimed at professional photographers, the company says its first H4D camera marks the beginning of a new chapter in the history of medium format...

NIKON COOLPIX S70

Previous reviews haven't been all smiles, but we're finally able to pick up Nikon's Coolpix S70 and see for ourselves. On form factor alone, it's a pretty alluring build even the faux leather front is tastefully done. While the tap-to-focus feature is a nice addition, we're less enthused about the OLED screen's viewing angles when outside and seeing as we've go no other way to see the memories we're framing, that's pretty disappointing. We're still putting it through its paces before we dole...
