Nvidia Unveils New Quad-Core Tegra 3 Processor to Challenge Apple’s A5

With the first units of the new Asus Prime Transformer in circulation now, there are also comparative benchmarks Nvidia Tegra processor 3, the quad-core chips at the base of most high-end tablet coming to market in the coming months.

Nvidia has long maintained that the Tegra chip 3 will do a clean sweep of the competition, especially ridiculing the iPad 2 A5 Dual Core processor, yet the Apple tablet in most comparisons proved to be only slightly slower than with Prime Transformer Tegra 3. The superiority of the Tegra chip 3 on the A5 processor has emerged, however, in comparison with GLBenchmark 2.1, a result that Apple should take into account in developing the A6 Quad Core CPU which should find the next largest end iPad 3.
