BlackBerry 7 OS Awarded Common Criteria EAL4+ Security Certification

RIM announces BlackBerry smartphones that use the BlackBerry operating system 7 have been independently assessed and have received certification level (EAL) 4 + Common Criteria for security.

The Common Criteria is an international standard that certifies products that meet specific requirements taken into consideration in security. Widely respected for comprehensive and complete evaluation by a third party, EAL4 + examines the design of a product, the methodology for software development and security mechanisms. EAL4 + is the highest form of accreditation under the Common Criteria Recognition Arrangement (CCRA) by 26 countries.
