Michael Degussa has designed this table, or infrografica, to show us the painful development of the Android operating system than the antagonist of all time, Apple’s iPhone OS. He has collected data on all Android devices from mid-2010 and compared the availability of updates for the latter than for the iPhone. Unfortunately from this point of view, Android is at a disadvantage, perhaps only because of some factors that we will consider later.
Taste considering all Android devices from the middle of 2010 has certainly taken a big slice of the smartphone to date in favor of the green robot, we speak of smartphones in June 2010. Leaving aside this aspect, we can definitely notice is the usual problem which detects each user Android, delay in updates or even missed, everyone at least once complained about it. And certainly from these data will be simple to understand:
In a nutshell:
- 7 of 18 Android will never have the current version of the operating system
- 12 out of 18 have the current version of the OS
- 10 out of 18 were at least two releases behind their plans
- 11 out of 18 have had no support for the latest updates after release
- 13 out of 18 have ever received before or update a few months after the disappearance from the market
- 15 out of 18 have not yet Gingerbread, released in December 2010
- In a few weeks, when it is released Ice Cream Sandwich, each device will be considered a major release behind the actual releases
- At least 16 out of 18 will almost certainly never receive Android 4.0
These data certainly do not do honor to our robot green, but just as surely will not make us change our thinking.
Many of us have had no problems because a particular update could not be access to new features or certain apps because they require advanced version of the OS, this definitely is not the case for IOS users.
But not because of our beloved robot is better, simply because Apple has the hardware and the software of your device, so it is easy to release the updates. Obviously, the problem for our devices is growing because there are many producers to differentiate their product by making it more difficult to customize the update.
Many do not give weight to this problem, if problem ever want to call it. According to the fragmentation of Android you will reach a stable and acceptable to everyone?
