RIM Launches BlackBerry Business Cloud Services for Microsoft Office 365

Research In Motion (RIM) announced the launch of the BlackBerry Business Cloud Services for Microsoft Office 365, a new online service from RIM, designed for mid-level companies, that extends the capabilities of Microsoft Exchange Online to BlackBerry smartphones, and allows organizations independently manage the adoption of BlackBerry in the cloud. An open beta of the service was launched yesterday in over 30 countries.

The main features of the service include:

  • Access to Microsoft Exchange Online email, calendar and organizer data from the BlackBerry smartphone
  • The inclusion of the BlackBerry Balance technology, which presents a unified view of both professional and personal content on the BlackBerry smartphone, while leaving the contents separated and secure
  • A web-based console for IT administrators to manage and the safety of the BlackBerry smartphone from any location
  • Access for employees to self-service security features for smartphones, allowing users to reset the password for a device or to remotely lock and remove a device if lost or stolen smartphone
